Recycle Hub: A Solution for Recycling and Managing Plastic Waste in Jember Regency
Recycle Hub is a plastic waste management and recycling unit located in Jatisari Village, Jenggawah District, Jember Regency, East Java. Established and operational since October 2022, Recycle Hub serves as a tangible solution to address plastic waste generated by various community activities, ranging from households, schools, and shops to plastic waste polluting the environment.
In collaboration with waste bank communities in Jember Regency, Recycle Hub processes plastic waste using Baled Press and Shredding methods, with types of plastic processed including PP, PET, HDPE, and soft plastics. Its primary goal is to reduce plastic waste polluting nature while transforming plastic waste into a new resource with economic value.
Recycle Hub focuses not only on waste reduction but also on creating positive economic impacts for the community. The unit generates new job opportunities and provides additional income for individuals contributing to waste collection and management through waste banks and Recycle Hub.
Currently, Recycle Hub has a plastic waste processing capacity of 300–500 kg per day. While it has yet to reach its maximum capacity, the unit continues to strive for greater efficiency and operational scale. With support from all stakeholders and increased public awareness of the importance of waste management, Recycle Hub aims to process even larger volumes of plastic waste in the future.
